Weekend At David's
Spent last weekend at David's. Had a blast as usual. Lots of family and lots of noise...my favorite!!! Had nice ride with Jake and Emily as back seat drivers...I think they enjoy giving their dad a hard time. Back to the grindstone this week. Trying to organize laundry room (don't really understand why). Organization is NOT my strength!!!! Dentist visit this week. Twins have driving school and we are measuring for new flooring. Hopefully we can agree on it....LOL. Life at the Holcomb's. Never a dull moment.

Our Weekend
Wow!!! That about sums it up...LOL. We were busy all weekend. Chris, Tammie and Christopher arrived Friday night. Jon had to work Saturday, so JR stayed with us so the boys could play together. Sunday was JR's 4th birthday party. PawPaw hooked the opened trailer up to the mower and rode the boys around the yard for what seemed like hours. Logan looked upset a few times because he wasn't big enough to dig in the dirt with the "older kids"...LOL. It won't be long!!!! We are so blessed to have such a great family!!!!!

Weekend
All my children and grandchildren will be home for the weekend!!!! Cleaning and getting ready to get the cookie TV going. Celebrating JR's 4th birthday Sunday. Can't wait. It's going to get loud around here the next couple of days. I can see PawPaw cooling off his RV getting ready for his "escape", he can only take so much he says, but once in a while you will see a little smile escape from him....LOL. He tries to act so tough, but one of the many reasons I love him.

Things I have learned lately
The older I get, the less "stuff" I want in my possession to be responsible for or to clean. I finally realized I am NEVER going to make that quilt, so why hold on to 30 lbs of fabric scraps that are just taking up room!!! You only need so many rolls of yarn, greeting cards, craft supplies....as I am cleaning out the craft room, I'm finding gifts that I have bought (and forgotten) among other items that have absolutely no purpose. Out they go!!!
I have also learned recently that if you clean the kitchen between 2 & 4 am (insomnia) that when you get up again at 6, it is still clean!!! I never knew you could wake up to a clean kitchen counter. I thought it was a myth !!!
Teenagers don't like it when Mom gets on her cleaning kick, especially then it involves cleaning their room. But I have learned that if you threaten to clean it yourself, meaning that gives you access to all their "stuff", they will comply...LOL.
When grown children move out, they also take your furniture with them, then come back to take anything else they forgot....guess Mom's getting new furniture in the near future.
And of course during all of this, Dad is complaining about all the clutter, but when it goes into garbage bags or Goodwill boxes, his voice start ringing through the house, "I paid good money for all that stuff!!!!" Is there such a thing as "bad" money?????
I'm sure at some point, I will need to rebuy something that I have gotten rid of, then his deep voice will again be heard, "I told you not to get rid of it, now you need it and will have to buy it again. You need organization and structure." Looks like after 23 years he would learn it "ain't gonna happen"....lol. But you gotta love a man who sticks to his guns...LOL. Little does he know that he IS my organization and structure and the glue that holds me together.

New Blog
Wow!!! Didn't know it had been so long since I last blogged. Needless to say, LOTS of things have happened around here. Just to recap this year so far, new grandbaby Logan (Jennifer & Jerry) made his appearance, my parents visited for a month, Jennifer had gallbladder surgery 4 weeks after Logan was born (learned I'm too old for round the clock infant care...LOL) , Jim blew a disc in his neck (lots of physical therapy), we lost Oma, Carel (my wonderful mother-in-law) and I took a road trip to Ozark, my babies turned 16, and so much more!!!! But, life is wonderful and although I fuss about the chaos, I wouldn't have it any other way!!!!
